UVU Welcome: Wayne Vaught, Provost & Senior VP of Academic Affairs
|
Provost Wayne Vaught joined UVU in 2019 as its Provost-Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Vaught had a 21-year career of teaching and being a university dean prior to joining UVU. Wayne is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. He and his wife, Eileen Amari-Vaught, have two daughters, Mia and Lauren. They have enjoyed their move to Utah and enjoy hiking, biking, camping, and all things outdoors. Wayne is also a basketball fan and has refereed at the high school and college levels. |
Keynote Speaker: Chloe Wilson- SkillsUSA Utah Alumni

Chloe Wilson served as post-secondary President of SkillsUSA Utah from 2018-2019, and Alumni Representative from 2021-2022. She graduated from Utah State University with her Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology in 2019. After graduating, Chloe welded at multiple shops in Salt Lake City, doing everything from construction welding jobs to sheet metal tig welding and fabrication. She moved to Moab with her husband in 2022 to create USU’s second welding shop and program, then moved to Blanding in 2023 to create USU’s third welding program. She’s currently a consultant on the build of USU’s fourth welding shop in Monument Valley. Chloe is a certified welder and became a certified welding inspector in 2023. She and her husband currently live in Monticello, UT with their two dogs and 11 chickens.

Keynote Speaker: Kyler Kelsch- SkillsUSA Utah Alumni

Kyler Kelsch was born and raised in St. George. He graduated from Dixie High School in 2014 while also receiving his Associate of Science degree from Dixie State University. He loves St. George with a passion and feeds off the 300+ days of sunshine a year. Kyler has been screen printing since he was a Sophomore in High School. Kyler took 4th place at the National SkillsUSA Championship in 2014 for Screen Printing Technology in the Secondary Division. He went on to win Gold at Nationals in screen printing in 2018 in the Post Secondary Division. Kyler served as a SkillsUSA Utah State Officer in 2013-2014 and again in 2018-2019. Kyler is a successful business owner in St. George. He runs a screen printing shop called Geezy Tees, which he has built from the ground up to be a thriving and successful business. He enjoys producing great products and branding a company. He has been a mentor to many students, some of his apprentices have gone on to also medal at the SkillsUSA National Conference. He is fluent in the native language of Madagascar being the language Malagasy. He enjoys spending time with his family, fitness, cross-fit, and being outdoors.

In this engaging session, we will explore the 4 pillars of effective leadership; trust, compassion, stability, and hope. Prepare to dig in, get dirty, and build the bridges that will help you excel in any leadership role.

In this workshop, we will unravel the secrets of time management, specifically tailored for leaders who are constantly juggling multiple responsibilities. We will explore time management techniques that you can take to your chapter and put into action as you plan your yearly calendar and lead your chapter to a successful and productive year.

Learn how to earn and keep the attention of your audience. We will practice managing a meeting with organized meeting agendas that can be put into use with your chapters. Learn ways to stop the endless discussion, have productive team meetings, and get things done!

Pink Session: Chapter Excellence Program
Kelli EngelbrechtIn this session, advisors will learn how to integrate the Chapter of Excellence Program (CEP) into your classroom. We’ll cover the steps to achieve Quality Chapter status, the benchmark set by Nationals, by guiding you through the eight required indicators and the application process. You’ll then explore how to advance to the Chapter of Distinction level, where you’ll develop a program of work that helps students master the Essential Elements through meaningful activities. We’ll compare the requirements of Quality Chapter and Distinctive Chapter levels, provide SMART goal examples, and emphasize the importance of reflection and celebration of student accomplishments. Finally, you’ll be introduced to resources on the website and get a glimpse into becoming a Model of Excellence. CEP Level 1 and 2 will be covered in different sessions.
