2021 UTAH LEADERSHIP & SKILLS COMPETITION

The 2021 Utah Leadership & Skills Conference has come to a close. Scores are being tallied currently. Please join us in viewing our Awards Ceremony video on April 15th at 6:00 PM. 


Students have received invitations to join the SkillsUSA Championships Hub. Advisors will not have access to this information. It is the student's responsibility to share this contest information with their advisors. Students are enrolled in the "SkillsUSA Championships Orientation" as well as their individual contest course. Contest Information is available on the SkillsUSA Championship Hub. Contest guides, zoom meeting invitations, and submission information will be found on that site. 

Your student will complete the following through a course or module on the Championships Hub:
  • Resume Submission- through a Dropbox file upload.
  • Complete a Professional Development/SkillsUSA Knowledge Test- Similar to how quizzes or test appear in Canvas. 
  • Complete a Technical Assessment Test- Applicable to most skilled contests. Similar to how quizzes or test appear in Canvas.
  • Submit a pre-recorded video, file upload, digital portfolio, pictures of project, or other various files- through a Dropbox file upload.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
*Both Membership AND Event/Contest Registration are completed on the NATIONAL WEBSITE, but are Separate Processes. Both MEMBERSHIP AND CONTEST REGISTRATION must be completed in order to compete.

How to Register For ULSC Contests
  • Alternates are registered as MEMBERS ONLY. They are not registered for contests.
  • Models are also registered as MEMBERS ONLY. They are not registered for contests.
  • DO NOT FORGET TO CLICK 'SUBMIT REGISTRATION' once Advisor and Student Registration has been completed. If you do not click 'Submit Registration', and invoice has not been generated and the registration process is not complete.
  • The event registration system will not allow a competitor to register until they are a Joined Member of SkillsUSA before the membership deadline.
  • Register a few additional students as Members of SkillsUSA to utilize at alternates. Life happens, and for example we do not want teams disqualified because one team member drops out, etc.
  • All SkillsUSA Advisors should register as Professional Members. Only through a Joined, Paid, Professional Membership will advisors have access to the Technical Standards for Contests.

CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS

Official SkillsUSA Competition Clothing recommended but NOT required.
  • Contestant clothing options include the following:
    • Official Competition Clothing.
    • Trade Appropriate Clothing.
    • Professional Dress.
    • Business Casual.
  • Clothing must meet industry safety standards.
  • No identification of the contestant, school or state is allowed on clothing.
  • No offensive, vulgar or inappropriate images or text are allowed on contestants clothing.
  • No shorts or sleeveless shirts are allowed.
  • Skirts must be at least knee-length.
  • Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn by contestant to meet all state, local and school requirements due to COVID-19.
  • Scoring deductions may only be given and/or disqualification of contestant if clothing safety standards are not met

TECHNICAL STANDARDS

2021 TECHNICAL STANDARDS NOW AVAILABLE

  • PLEASE follow the  Virtual Technical Standards for each contest.
  • We cannot stress this enough.  The judges follow the Technical Standards as close as possible when scoring to best prepare students for Nationals.
  • SkillsUSA has made changes to some of the Technical Standards from Previous years. Be sure to download the CURRENT technical standards. Instructions for where to locate them are available through SkillsUSA Absorb. 
  • Advisors must be registered as a Professional Member of SkillsUSA to have access to the technical standards.
  • Clothing Requirements can also be found though the Technical Standards page.
