UVU Welcome: Wayne Vaught, Provost & Senior VP of Academic Affairs
Dr. F. Wayne Vaught joined UVU on June 1, 2019. Prior to joining us, Dr. Vaught had a 21-year career at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he served as a professor and then dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. His Ph.D. in Philosophy, with a concentration in Medical Ethics, is from
the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Before UMKC, he taught at Allegheny University of the Health Sciences (merged with Drexel University), as well as Georgetown College in Kentucky. Dean Vaught’s primary research is in biomedical ethics, with a focus on ethical issues in pediatrics. He has published several papers in leading ethics journals including The Hastings Center Report, The Journal of Clinical Ethics and Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics. He is co-editor of Ethics Across the Professions, Oxford University Press. |
Keynote Speaker: Michael Snapp, Senior Director - Career and Internship Center

Michael Snapp has been with UVU since 2001. Previous positions include High School Relations Coordinator, Director of Enrollment Marketing, Director of the Career Development Center, and now the Senior Director of the Career & Internship Center. He has taught Student Success, Career Prep, Public Speaking, Marriage and Relationship Skills, and Conflict Management.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication (Weber State University) with a minor in Sociology of the Family; a master’s degree in Educational Counseling (University of Phoenix), and will complete his doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership (Abilene Christian University) with an emphasis in Conflict Resolution in November of 2023.
Michael is a husband to one, and a father to five. His focuses in life are Family, Faith, Fitness, Friends, Failure, and Forgiveness. He’s a published author, loves traveling, riding motorcycles (dirt bikes and road bikes), grilling tri tip roast and fish tacos, college football, documentaries, and weekly date night with his wife of 30 years. He still does not know what he wants to be when he grows up.
